We presented at the Niguel Shores Mens' Club this morning. This is the recap by our friend, CW Gruenig:
Our speaker for our June 6th meeting was William (Bill) Cunningham, the creator and President of BERT which means Business and family Emergency Recovery Training. His company works by invitation in the U.S. and abroad to have businesses, cities or families make a plan about what to do in the case of earthquake, tidal wave, hurricane or terrorism etc. before professional first responders arrive on the scene.
Use of time is critical. Bill gave us three situations, and with interaction with club members, he had us come up with a common sense plan for rescuing passengers in a bus crash, an earthquake while in the club house and a shooting terrorist if one were to enter the room during our meeting.
There are three choices of what to do; run, hide or fight in order of what makes sense at the moment. BERT training teaches how to make plans and assign roles right on the spot for safety and recovery during the critical first minutes.
The presentation was reinforced with an excellent short film produced by Homeland Security to reinforce Bill’s message. Club members participated readily and the information was spot on. ... See MoreSee Less
